Privacy Policy
This describes what happens to information you give us through this website and what we do with it. It is written from how the site actually behaves, which we measured rather than assumed.
What this site does, and mostly doesn't, do
This website uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies. They are used to measure how the site is used — which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from, and whether the request form was completed. They are not advertising cookies: ad personalization and Google’s cross-device signals are both switched off at the tag, so your visit is not used to build an advertising profile of you.
The Google Analytics script is the only thing loaded from anyone else. There is no tag manager, no advertising pixel, no embedded video, no social widget and no hosted font. Every other file the page needs comes from this domain. Google Analytics does mean page views are reported to Google, and that is the one exception — it is measurement, not advertising.
The calculators keep your figures in your browser. Nothing you type into the savings calculator, the ownership tool or the transaction checklist is sent to us. There is no email gate on any of them, and closing the tab is the delete button.
You only give us personal information if you send the request form or contact us directly. That is the one place data reaches us.
This section describes the website’s current data collection and analytics practices as of the date above.
The request form, plus analytics
Analytics. Google Analytics 4 records ordinary usage: pages viewed, how you arrived, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, and whether the request form was completed. It does not receive your name, email, phone number or the property address — those are only in the form itself. Google is sent an identifier stored in a cookie so repeat visits can be counted as one person rather than several.
When you send an inspection request we collect what the form asks for:
- your first and last name, email address and phone number
- the property's street address, city and state — the property being inspected, which is often not where you live
- what you need from us, and your role in the transaction
- optional context you choose to give: occupancy, preferred timing, a contingency or needed-by date, what you know about how the solar is owned, whether there is a battery, and any notes
We also record, at the moment you submit, whether the property is in an area we serve. That is derived from the city and state you gave us — it is not a lookup of you — and we keep it because it tells us where inspection demand is coming from that we cannot currently meet.
We never ask for payment details, card numbers or bank details through this website, and there is no file upload. Payment happens after the inspection, through a payment link, and the card details go to the payment processor rather than to us.
Like any web server, the host records ordinary access logs — IP address, timestamp, the page requested, the browser's user-agent string. Those exist for security and diagnostics and are not used to build a profile of you.
Answer you, do the work, deliver the report
We use what you send to call you back, agree scope and timing, perform the inspection, produce and deliver the report, take payment for it, and follow up about the work. That is the whole list.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We do not send marketing email you did not ask for, and there is no newsletter signup on this site to be added to.
We look at the pattern across requests — which cities and states they come from, and whether they were in our service area — to decide where to expand. That is aggregate business planning, not profiling of individuals.
The paying customer, unless you say otherwise
This matters more here than a general privacy clause, because an inspection report describes a specific property in detail — its equipment, its condition, its serial numbers, sometimes its monitoring account.
The report goes to the paying customer only, unless that customer authorizes us to send it to someone else — their agent, the other side's agent, escrow, a lender. We follow the customer's instruction on that; we do not circulate a report because someone else in the transaction asks for it.
The public sample report on this site is a composite. It is not a real property, a real customer or a real inspection, and no customer's report has been published.
Where information goes when it leaves us
A small number of ordinary business services necessarily see some of this:
- Our website host, which stores the site and its server logs.
- Email delivery, which carries your request to us and the report to you.
- Stripe, which takes payment through a payment link. Stripe handles card details directly under its own privacy terms; we do not receive or store your card number.
- Google Analytics, which receives the usage data described in section 02 — not your contact details and not the property address. Ad personalization and Google’s cross-device signals are switched off.
If we later add a customer relationship system to manage requests, it will appear in this list before it starts receiving anything. No CRM, marketing platform or lead-distribution service currently receives this data.
Where you engage Solar Transaction Support, we may contact third parties on your behalf and with your authorization — a finance company, a utility, an installer — to establish what documentation exists. That is the point of the service, and we do it at your direction.
We will also disclose information where the law requires it.
Long enough to stand behind the work
We retain personal information and inspection records for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purposes for which they were collected — providing our services, maintaining business records, resolving disputes, and meeting applicable legal or insurance requirements.
In practice that means inspection records, reports and the requests that led to them are kept as ordinary business records, because a report may be relied on in a transaction and questions about it can arrive long after the inspection.
If you want your information removed and there is no live transaction or record-keeping reason to hold it, ask us and we will do it.
What you can ask us for
California residents have rights over personal information under state law, including the right to know what is held, to have it deleted, and to correct it. Whether every statutory obligation of the CCPA/CPRA applies to a business of this size depends on thresholds we have not asserted either way — so rather than claim compliance or duck the question, we will honour these requests regardless:
- ask what personal information we hold about you
- ask for a copy of it
- ask us to correct something that is wrong
- ask us to delete it, where no live transaction or record-keeping requirement needs it
- ask us to stop contacting you
We do not sell personal information, and we do not hand your contact details or the property address to anyone for their own marketing.
On analytics specifically: Google Analytics is used for measurement, with ad personalization and Google’s cross-device signals switched off, so it is not used to build an advertising profile of you. If you would rather not be counted at all, Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics on every site: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Most browsers can also block the script or clear its cookies.

The rest
Children. This site is for people transacting real estate. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Security. The site is served over HTTPS and access to request records is limited to people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we are not going to claim otherwise.
Changes. If this changes materially, the date at the top changes with it. The most useful thing you can check is whether the first section still describes the same analytics, and nothing has been added beside it.
