Solar home inspections start at $399

That covers a typical residential system: the on-site inspection, the evaluation, two sets of human eyes on the findings, and the written report in about 24 hours.

01What's in the starting price

Included at $399

The clearest way to read a price is against what it does and doesn't buy, so that's how it's set out.

What the $399 starting price includes, and what it doesn't.
Included at $399Not included
The six-system evaluationYes — roof and mounting, modules, electrical, inverter, monitoring, performance, as applicable and where safely accessible
Drone surveyYes, where appropriate and permittedNot every property or airspace allows it
Two human reviewsYes — findings are normally reviewed by two sets of human eyes
The written reportYes — extensive photographs, priority-ordered next steps, a responsible party named against each
Battery or storage inspectionNoCosts additional — tell us what's installed when you request
A second, separately installed systemNoIts own inspection and an additional fee, quoted on request. Both systems appear in one report
Repair cost estimatesNo — not a standard deliverableTake the findings to any contractor you choose; we will help you read the price that comes back
Modules lifted or removedNoNot done as a matter of course
02What moves the number

When it costs more than $399

Battery and storage
Storage inspection costs additional. Tell us what's installed when you request.
Large or complex systems
More arrays, more inverters, multiple roof planes or difficult access — one system, more work to reach and evaluate.
Two-storey and steep or high roofs
Height changes what it takes to reach the array safely — more setup, sometimes different equipment. It can carry an additional fee, and we will say so on the call rather than after the visit.
More than one system
Some properties have two separately installed solar systems, often added years apart. Each one is a full inspection in its own right — its own equipment, wiring and monitoring — so a second system carries an additional fee, quoted when you request. Both systems are covered in a single report.
Commercial and large multifamily
Quoted individually. The $399 residential price doesn't apply.
Rush scheduling
An additional fee, subject to availability. We never guarantee same-day or next-day.
We confirm the price with you on the call before anything is scheduled. A request is not a booking, and it isn't a commitment to a price you haven't heard.
03The honest comparison

Why it isn't cheaper

A general home inspection in this market commonly starts around $325 and covers the whole house. Ours costs more than that and covers one system. That looks wrong until you consider what the two things actually involve.

A general inspection is contractually non-invasive. A solar inspection means taking live measurements at the disconnect and the inverter, opening enclosures where it's appropriate and safe, pulling the inverter's error history, evaluating the monitoring platform and establishing what transfers with the property. Different work, different equipment, different expertise — and twenty-six years of it.

Some specialist providers publish lower numbers. It's worth asking them one question: does the inspection measure production, or does it look at the array? At least one inspector serving this county states publicly that its solar inspection does not measure or verify actual energy production output. That's a legitimate service — it just answers a different question than the one a buyer is asking.

04FAQ

Common questions

The property has two separate solar systems. Is that one inspection?

It's two. Systems installed at different times have their own equipment, wiring and monitoring, and each has to be evaluated on its own terms — so a second system carries an additional fee, quoted when you request. You still get one report covering both.

Is $399 the final price?

It's the starting price, and it covers a typical residential system. Larger or more complex installations, battery storage and rush scheduling cost more. We confirm the price with you before we schedule — there's no surprise on the invoice.

Why is it more than a general home inspection add-on?

Because it isn't an add-on. A solar inspection means measuring live electrical values, opening enclosures where appropriate, reading the inverter's fault history and evaluating the monitoring platform. It's a different discipline and a different tool kit.

When do I pay?

After the inspection. We send a payment link once the work is done, and the report is released after payment.

Do you charge for a re-inspection?

Ask us. It depends on how much has changed and how long it's been. We'd rather quote it honestly than publish a number that doesn't fit your situation.

Working a weekend transaction? So are we

The office is open Monday–Friday 9am–6pm, but inspections run on weekends and requests are open around the clock. We'll call to confirm the date and time.

Requesting an inspection isn't a confirmed appointment — we'll contact you to confirm timing.
